Denver Airport


The airport is located 23 miles (37km) northeast of Denver. The ride to downtown takes about 30 minutes. This airport serves Denver metropolitan area. The airport is a hub for Frontier Airlines, the second-largest hub for United Airlines, as well as the primary hub for Ted, a subsidiary of United, and also the main hub of Great Lakes Airlines. In 2006 passenger traffic was almost 47 million. The airport handles 905 commercial and 616 air taxi operations daily. The airport has one main terminal with three concourses (A, B, and C). The airport has 6 runways. Five of the runways are 12,000 feet. One of runways is 16,000 feet in length. The airport construction was authorized in 1989 under the leadership of Denver mayor Federico Peña. The airport is named after the city of Denver. The airport access road, Peña Boulevard, can be accessed via an exit off I-70 in east Denver. I-70 offers connections to I-25, I-225 and I-76. Peña Boulevard can also be accessed from the E-470 Tollway and Airport Boulevard in Aurora. All concourses and the main terminal are connected by a rail system that runs every 2 minutes. Various parking options are available, the hourly rate is from $1/hr to $11/hr. the daily parking rate is from $5/hr to $27/hr There are restaurants, coffee shops, bars, fast-food, an ice cream parlour and cafés. Some of the options are Sara Lee Sandwich/Colombo Frozen Yogurt, SkySnax, Taco Bell, Wolfgang Puck Express, Steak Escape, Seattle's Best Coffee, Quiznos Classic Subs & Ba,r Panda Express, KFC/Pizza Hut Express, Itza Wrap! Itza Bowl!. Lost luggage, items lost in flight or at an airline gate are collected and held for claim by the respective airline. For items found in public areas at the airport are taken to Airport Lost and Found on Level 6 Jeppesen Terminal. There is a Jewish and Christian Interfaith Chapel and a Islamic Masjid. All are open 24 hours for meditation. They are located on Level 6, Terminal East atrium, at the south end. There is a children’s play area on concourse B. Employment opportunities have not been given at the airport website. But you may contact airport information at (800) AIR2DEN (24 hours, seven days a week) for further information. There are News stands and book stores conveniently located in Jeppesen Terminal and throughout the Concourses. General and specialty gift shops are located throughout the airport.
